PRE-employmenT grant (PEG)
Applications for the 2019 Pre-employment Grant have closed.
What is it?
The MOHH Pre-Employment Grant (PEG) is a financial incentive to attract Singaporean students studying medicine and dentistry overseas to return to and work in Singapore.
The PEG will be offered mid course and will cover up to 60% of the remaining years of tuition fees, capped at $50,000 per year up to a maximum grant of $150,000.
Recipients of the PEG will be required to serve in the hospital clusters for up to 4 years depending on the grant received.
- Students receiving the grant for one year will serve a bond of three years.
- Students receiving the grant for two and three years will serve a bond of four years.
The service bond will include the one-year Housemanship if it is served in Singapore.
Who can apply?
Singapore Citizens (PRs are not eligible) studying in an overseas medical or dental school recognised by the Singapore Medical Council and Singapore Dental Council respectively will be eligible to apply.
Applicants must be:
- 4-year programme: Students going on to 3rd or 4th year
- 5-year programme: Students going on to 4th or 5th year
- 6-year programme: Students going on to 4th, 5th or 6th year
Applications open in December/January for approximately 4 weeks. This would include registering your details, appointing trustees and amongst that, a personal statement.
The selection is based on merit. Applicants should possess good grades in their medical studies, especially in their clinical training years. They are also required to undergo an oral interview with Senior Clinicians from the public healthcare clusters and MOH Holdings.
